時制をずらすことで現実との距離を表す

If節では過去形（過去完了）

主節では助動詞の過去＋Ｖ（完了形）

上は実現性がない

下は基本的にないと思っている

if it were not for  〜がなければ

if it had not been for 〜がなかったら

倒置

were it not for

Vは時制を過去にずらす

as if S V =as thought 

まるでSがＶするかのように

It is time S V

It is about time S V 

It is high time S V

SがＶする時間だ

下に行くほど急かしている

群動詞の受動態

speak to 〜に話しかける

laught at 〜を笑う

take care of 〜の世話をする

be known to 〜に知られている

be covered with 〜で覆われている

be killed in 〜で亡くなる
